SongbookBB hits version 1.02

Nimelia has been busy tinkering even more with an updated version of the plugin SongbookBB (under stern supervision of and constant reminders from her auntie Tibba).

The plugin is a massive help for anyone who plays music in LOTRO, and now it is even better than before! It even hit version 1.00 1.01 1.02!

You can download version 1.02 here.

  • To install, unzip the file into your “Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins” folder, keeping all sub-folders in the zip as usual
  • Also remember that you need to scan your ABC song files, so the plugin can find your song collection. Use the Songbooker datafiller which yer can get in the Songtools pack here.

For general SongbookBB installation instructions and more on the plugin history, see the plugin home page.

Changes

Note that there are not too many changes from the last version. The reason it has taken a bit of time is a complete rewrite/simplification of instrument handling under the hood, to facilitate translations into other languages.

Changes from v1.01

  • Fixed a rare bug when saving settings.

Changes from v1.00

  • French/German play/sync commands should work now (the language file encoding had accidentally been changed)
  • Fixed a bug in the instrument slot save for DE/FR locale settings.
  • Added some additional abbreviations as suggested: Misty Mt Harp, Lonely (Mt) Fiddle, etc.

Changes from v.99:

  • The Jaunty Hand-Knells are recognized by the plugin
  • The plugin is fully translated and should work on German and French game clients.
  • Currently, the plugin checks for English instrument names if it cannot find French/German ones. E.g., searching "i:tambour" will find songs with drums, and the instrument drop list will add the tambour if there is a drum part. This can be disabled in the Settings window (lowest check box under "Badger settings").
  • Added settings option to search track names
  • Bugfix: Instrument search for “basic harp” now also finds tracks named “harp”
  • Bugfix: Fixed possible drag/drop of announce button

Going forward

Nimelia also says that she doesn't have a full overview of what instrument abbreviations French/German musicians are using, if any. If people let her know, she can quickly add them. In a future version, she might add user editing of instrument names/abbreviations. But, as she says, "many a biscuit jar will be emptied until then, I'm afraid."

At any rate, suggestions for bigger improvements or new functionality are always welcome. They just might go on to Tibba's list of possible future features!

Enjoy version 1.02!
