Dark times ahead. A menace roams through the village. The sheepdog is after yer food!
About the song
Best sung to the traditional folk song "Farewell to Nova Scotia", this was another one of me "write a song quickly" challenges. It took about 50 minutes this time. A few forced rhymes, but else it ties together.
It is also another song about that little menace of a dog I have, Abby. Oh, and this time, she's joined by her pa, the old ruffian himself, Ruff. Hide yer food!
For more of me songs, have a look in the songbook.
Lyrics: Beware the little sheepdog
The news were of the most worrying kind And the gossip told of impending doom All across the hobbit village, despair and worry reigned As the locals fell into a state of cheerless gloom
So beware the little sheepdog, that seeks yer pork Keep yer larder locked and close yer eyes When she scratches on yer door, hold yer breath and hope for best Or yer belly will go empty from a lack of pies
With nerves of steel and a heart of coal Yer may think that yer will avoid this fate But no force more full of power than gentle puppy eyes If she tilts her head yer may as well forsake yer plate
So beware the little sheepdog, that seeks yer pork Keep yer larder locked and close yer eyes When she scratches on yer door, hold yer breath and hope for best Or yer belly will go empty from a lack of pies
But now, her pa comes to set her straight Surely now our food will forever be safe But alas, that rascal sheepdog decides to join his pup And the two set out to claim a thick and juicy steak
So beware those rascal sheepdogs, that seeks yer pork Keep yer larder locked and close yer eyes When they scratch upon yer door, hold yer breath and hope for best Or yer belly will go empty from a lack of pies
