Autumn is fast approaching, and this is a time when many hobbits feel a bit mellow. As in this hobbity autumn music video.
Fanciful as many of me songs can be, with heroic sheepdogs and biscuit-carrying mice, I like writing simple stories too from time to time. This one is surely in that category, and it was written rather quickly too, a day or so before the Grand Order anniversary party a few weeks back. The song was first performed by the Songburrow Strollers during that party, to the melody of the traditional folk song "Fine Flowers in the Valley".
I quite liked the lyrics, so I tinkered a little with the words before deciding to shoot a video of it. I don't suppose hobbits often wander around in Lothlorien (which is where the video was mostly shot), but I thought the mix between the melancholy elven lands and a simple, sad story from the Shire could be an interesting one. I tried not to go overboard with effects and shaky cams too, which I tend to do during me videos... Keep it simple and steady, with a few transitions and colour filters near the end. And let the words and music do most of the work.
I am quite pleased with the result meself, so hopefully yer will like it too! Fullscreen and HD highly recommended. The full lyrics are below the video.

Trees Tall and Umber
She walks alone through far distant woods Leaves golden on trees tall and umber No sound beyond the gentle evening breeze As the land slows down for winter slumber
Softly a raindrop falls to the ground Leaves golden on trees tall and umber The drizzle mingles with her bittersweet tears As the land slows down for winter slumber
In springtime she wore her bright bonny dress Leaves golden on trees tall and umber Now naught but a distant dream of sadness and hurt As the land slows down for winter slumber
Remember the dance on the white lilied field Leaves golden on trees tall and umber Now petals withering with eventide grey As the land slows down for winter slumber
Gentle his touches, tender his kiss Leaves golden on trees tall and umber A promise broken as the darkness descends As the land slows down for winter slumber
Give me your hand, you fairest of maids Leaves golden on trees tall and umber He said when marrying her trusted best friend And her heart cried out for winter slumber
She walks alone through far distant woods Leaves golden on trees tall and umber No sounds beyond the gentle evening breeze As the land slows down for winter slumber
