Grand Fishing Song

Hobbits love ter fish, and here is a song from one time I went off with me pole ter catch me dinner. It didn't quite work out as I planned.

One of me earlier songs, this is very grand ter sing along to the wild and bouncy Bron-Yr-Aur-Stomp by Led Zeppelin. Always a favourite at the Green Dragon, where it has been performed a number of times over the years! Enjoy!

Grand Fishing Song

Aah, went out fishing today Hoped to catch me my prey Eat it up without delay, oh yay

Aah, brought me pole to the lake Tried to stay all awake Eating fine fresh-baked cake, oh yay

Perch and dace were jumping around So I snuck to the shore without making a sound Threw me lure in the waters deep Then I tried me best not to fall asleep

Aah, as the sun shone on me I wanted many mugs of tea And me stomach did agree, oh yay

Aah, after many a meal So much better I did feel Cast me pole with newfound zeal, oh yay oh yay oh yay

Perch and dace were jumping around So I snuck to the shore without making a sound Threw me lure in the waters deep Then I tried me best not to fall asleep

But no fish bit on me lure, and soon I snoozed down by the shore Pleasant dreams of biscuits sweet, the kind of which I soon would eat Happy dreams that came to an end When me pole started shake and creak and bend

Aah, had a fish on the hook Wilder than a young Took Pulling me towards the water, me legs shook

Aah, I did curse and yell But the fish said farewell In the water I fell, oh nay

I splashed around and screamed fer help Then I felt a tug and I heard a yelp A hobbit laughed to my chagrin Used me very own pole to reel me in
