When the Badgers Sing

Storm the forest! The Brandy Badgers played Winterstock again today, which was grand fun as usual. Also as usual, I wrote a couple of new song lyrics.

About the sing song

This one's about our long-running "story" that the Shire badgers wake up early in the springtime, to greet the new season with song. A revolutionary idea! Which needs a revolutionary song, like "Do you hear the people sing?" from Les Miserables. Do sing along! And check the version of the original tune below!

When the badgers sing

It's the coming of the spring
Calling the badgers out to sing

Forests are waking to the gentle songs that woodland creatures bring

Thoughts of winter cold will fade

Foxes and fawns play in the glade

Rays from the sun like the caress of a songbird's wing

Come and join the merry chorus, think of all that you have dear
The darkness is beyond, the morning hours are bright and clear

With dancing and singing and young conies bringing the cheer

It's the coming of the spring
Calling the badgers out to sing
Forests are waking to the gentle songs that woodland creatures bring
Thoughts of winter cold will fade

Foxes and fawns play in the glade

Rays from the sun like the caress of a songbird's wing

See the badgers leave their sett, and wash the winter sleep away
Eating berries in the sun, before they gather round to play

Them fine furry fellers wake all forest dwellers today

It's the coming of the spring
Calling the badgers out to sing
Forests are waking to the gentle songs that woodland creatures bring

Thoughts of winter cold will fade
Foxes and fawns play in the glade

Rays from the sun like the caress of a songbird's wing

Do you hear the people sing?

And here is a version of the original tune
