Celebrating Ronald Dwale

J.R.R. Tolkien passed away September 2nd 1973. Instead of moping around, the musicians in The Brandy Badgers use this date to perform songs based on his stories and poems. Welcome to this years Bards Day Concert!

Invitation to the concert

Date: Tuesday September 2nd Time: 7:30PM UK (2:30PM servertime) Place: Ivy Bush Inn, Hobbiton, Laurelin server

A day to remember the writers of the tales, poems and songs we treasure today. A concert with a selection of tunes related to one of the finest writers we have seen, master Ronald Dwale.

The Brandy Badgers will perform a selection of songs based on the works of master Dwale. All are welcome to come to attend the concert: hobbits, dwarves, elves and men.

Welcome to the Ivy Bush on Laurelin, Tuesday September 2nd!

What is the Bards Day concert?

The Bards Day concerts started back in 2012. While this is really a concert based on Tolkien and his works, us Laurelin hobbits originally decided to make this a happy event rather than a mournful one. As such, the concert is a general celebration of all the grand bards who made those exciting stories we know and love. With a special focus on Ronald Dwale, Tolkien's in-game alter ego in LOTRO.

During the concert, you'll hear a lot of songs based on Dwale's (Tolkien's) poems and stories. If you like old dwarven songs about misty mountains cold, elven songs of lands across the sea, songs of tragic love as well as of hobbits drinking at the inn, you can't go wrong at the Bards Day concert. There will also be interludes with poems between the songs. And, of course, much toasting of the old bards.

The main concert is performed by The Brandy Badgers, the in-house music collective in the Grand Order of the Lost Mathom. After their set, the stage in the Ivy Bush will be open for others who would like to play a song suitable for the event.

Practical information

Given the concert theme and the date, this is not a strict roleplaying event, so players of all sizes and shapes are welcome. Tall people are encouraged to stay a little to the back, so that the hobbits can see the stage.

The concert is an in-character event, so please try follow the Laurelin roleplaying policy.

Should the inn seem empty when you enter, there may be layers in effect (not least due to the Farmer's Faire being on in the Shire at this date). If you have problems, just contact one of the organizers, or listen to announcements in the regional channel.

Oh, and here is a video with one of the songs from last year, made by miss Whiteberry.
