Grand Friendship Song

Although the Shire is generally a friendly and relaxed place, even hobbits fight at times. After some less than happy days a while back, I wrote this little song about friendship

Best sung to the tune of A Bunch of Thyme, this has become a staple song both fer me and them Songburrow Strollers. I often play it near the end of a Green Dragon Friday. There's no grander thing than lots of hobbits joining in on the chorus!

The Grand Friendship Song

Come all me kin and friends tonight We meet as day gives up its light We stand by the fire, here in our lovely Shire And sing with voices loud and bright

Our friendship is a precious thing Together there's nothing we can't do Don't go all alone, down paths all overgrown Our friendship is a precious thing

News say that something isn't right Outside our bounds the big folk fight They say some are poor, there's tidings of war We hear of everlasting night

Our friendship is a precious thing Together there's nothing we can't do Don't go all alone, down paths all overgrown Our friendship is a precious thing

The Shire days are warm and bright Tonight we meet to make our plight If we stand together, we will always have good weather So sing with voices loud and bright

Our friendship is a precious thing Together there's nothing we can't do Don't go all alone, down paths all overgrown Our friendship is a precious thing
