Bullroarer Took

Them Bullroarer celbrations draw near, so we had us a historical field trip to Greenfields last night! We learned more about the battle there with them goblins over 270 years ago, and we ate a lot of sausages and drank a few ales. Here is one of the songs sung about the Bullroarer!

Best sung to the tune of Don Quixote by Gordon Lightfoot, this is an upbeat tune about that famous Took of old. Sing along everyone!

Bullroarer Took

Through the woodland, through the valley, comes a hobbit wild and free Smiling at the lasses giggling, who can the brave young hobbit be He is strong and he is sturdy, leaping over stone and brook He is tall and he is handsome, he is named Bullroarer Took

Carrying a sturdy club, he rides a full-size horse into the fields Son of Thain Isumbras Three, his shout is strong enough to make yer shake Yer feel the Greenfields quake

Rumours say that war is coming, rumours say the wolves are near Rumours tell of nasty goblins, bringing naught but senseless fear He has come ter fight the goblins, he has come ter save us all Let us gather on the fields, and let us heed his battle call

Find yer weapon in the shed and hug yer wife and children tight See the northern hobbits muster, ready for a fearsome fight

Carrying a sturdy club, he rides a full-size horse into the fields Son of Thain Isumbras Three, his shout is strong enough to make yer shake Yer feel the Greenfields quake

See the fields all dark at night and listen ter the distant sound Hear the ugly shrieks of war and feel the pounding in the ground Wait until the misty morning, dire though the day may look There is one who brings yer courage, he is named Bullroarer Took

See the goblins run toward yer, see the wolves with gaping jaws Stand up straight beside yer kinsmen, fight the goblins without pause Feel the tide of battle turning, victory is almost near In the end yer chase yer foes and save the ones that yer hold dear

Carrying a sturdy club, he rode a full-size horse into the fields Son of Thain Isumbras Three, his shout was strong enough to make yer shake He rode his horse into the fray, he smashed his club into the goblin king The songs that we will sing For him we will sing

Through the woodland, through the valley, comes a hobbit wild and free Smiling at the lasses giggling, who can the brave young hobbit be He is strong and he is sturdy, leaping over stone and brook He is tall and he is handsome, he is named Bullroarer Took
