Poetical has been updated!
Please note that Poetical has now gotten a static page, where any new versions will be released. Further comments on the plugin should be added there, since comments on this blog post have been closed. Please visit the Poetical page here!
Poetical is a plug-in designed to store the words of your favourite poems (and songs), and allows you to recite them a line at a time using a single button press.
A very user-friendly aid – thank you Simbo!
Yeah! Fine work!
I share a little comment :
About the FRENCH CLIENT translation, it’s minor but i think that “à ressort” is more fun than explicit for french client :)
you can keep pop-out term… better will be the most usefull : pop-up. that’s a generic term we used in French too for a window that pop-up or pop-out the main window.
/poetical à ressort “POEM NAME” (Opens the poem in a pop-out window)
Anyway, thx for theses useful improvements of our good old Lyrical plugin

Thanks for the feedback!
Hullo^^ Here i am again :D
About the localised French Client :
There a problem yeah! An old one which had made flow of dark blood a long time ago with Songbook 0.83 :D
I’m trying to explain…
We got the : Unable to parse file system bug ingame and can’t relaunch the plugins after the first install.
That is because UK client and FR client (i don’t know for DE one) don’t write line number in the file PoeticalPoems.plugindata exactly the same :
Exemple
* in actual (UK) version :
————————–
[“Lines”] =
{
[1,000000] = “TEST”
},
The problem is for [1,000000], and alas, that not works for FR lotroclient :/
* For a FR version, should be :
————————————–
[“Lines”] =
{
[1] = “TEST”
},
FR Client got problems with the decimal #,0 because we write #.0
I made test with line number as [1] … without decimal and that works fine. But i must redo it always i want to use Poetical (with text editor, find and replace #,000000 by nothing.)
This is concerning [“Lines”] section and [“Tags”] section.
I hope you could find how to fix this major issue for FR client, especially as Poetical serves me so well! Excellent plugin!
Added : Problem is the same in PoeticalSettings.plugindata. We can’t parse all the line numbers [1,000000], [2,000000] etc at all…
I don’t edit the PoeticalSettings, there are line number format as [#,000000] in many sections (^^)

Hullo! Simbo is looking into it, so let’s see what he can sort out!
Hullo!
Thanks for finding this, Master Zedrock. I think it is actually a bug with how plug-ins handle numbers in general. The good news is that I can fix it (By only storing strings instead of numbers).
I hope to have a new version ready in a few days!
Hullo :)
Thxs for your quick answer :)
I had time so I spent it to debug my Poetical by my own^^
Here are DIY changes i made :

Still need a fix to refresh Poems after edit/add a new one but, have no more parsing error.
Maybe that can help you^^

Hullo Master Zedrock!
Many thanks for taking the trouble to make those fixes. I have made similar fixes to Poetical, mainly to save everything using strings rather than numbers.
Before I make the new version available for release, perhaps you would like to test the fixes I made first? Find them here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pee6hjq1mdwmpde/PoeticalFixes.zip
You might need to clear down your existing Poetical settings files if this new version doesn’t load first time, but hopefully the new settings files created should cause no more problems.
Thank you!
Yoohoo!
Seems it works perfect!
Fully fonctionnal for EU clients now ! ;)
THX a lot!
Viva Poetical!

Simbo, you still remain my hero for this wonderful tool. I think I know the answer, but is there any way to have a line simultaneously appear in /say and /shout, without duplicating the line and starting it with the right preface, and clicking twice? Or maybe you know some shortcut I have missed. Thanks very much.
Hollyberye
I’ll point Simbo here!
Else, he just might be even more heroic soon…
Hullo Miss Hollyberye!
I do not think this will be possible, so I would not get your hopes up, but I will investigate just in case…..
I have investigated, and alas the answer is no. You can’t have a line simultaneously appear in /say and /shout using just one click.
However, what I could do is allow two “default prefixes” to be entered in the Poem Editor, and Poetical would then duplicate the lines for you. That is to say, you would only have to enter the lines once in the Editor itself, but they would then appear duplicated in the main Poetical window, with the relevant prefix before each line.
You would still have to click each line manually yourself, but it would make it much easier to edit.
Simbo, I am grateful to you for investigating this–thank you so much (passes fresh baked kale and carrot savoury pie to you). What I was trying to avoid was having to click twice, so I personally wouldn’t request you make that change, as I don’t mind the manual entry. Maybe some time down the road when you are making other updates. Again, many thanks for looking into this!
Yours, Hollyberye
