The Songbook plugin is an indispensable tool for LOTRO musicians who play in bands. Here is a modified version of the plugin, The Badger Chapter, with lots of added functionality!
Nimelia has adapted the original Songbook plugin, fixing bugs and added new functionality very useful for LOTRO musicians. Please note that Songbook: The Badger Chapter has now gotten a static page, where any new versions will be released. Further comments on the plugin should be added there, since comments on this blog post have been closed. Please visit the Songbook page here!
I use a LMB plugin called Band Aide (its now on lotroface). But we have no way to know if a musician has equipped the correct instrument for a track. How on earth are you doing that?
That only works if the name of the part/track contains the instrument it is intended for, which is almost always the case in our song files. A player syncing a part will then be notified if the instrument they have equipped does not seem to fit the one indicated in the part/track name.
Oh, looking grand. The countdown timer alone is fabulous. I’m a convert already, can’t wait to try it with the rest of Brandywine and Biscuits!
Grand it is useful, miss Bilbeto! If yer run into any problems, please let us know!
Not sure why, but the SongbookBB interferes with the Chatterbug plugin (at least for me). Chatterbug receives no text. I don’t know if it is because of the options I have checked in SongbookBB or not. In the settings I have the following checked: Song part list visible, Search enabled, Filters, Show timer, Songbook button visible. Chatterbug loads before SongbookBB. I am also using the Bootstrap plugin manager.
Follow up – if SongbookBB loads before Chatterbug, then it works – so it has something to do with the order of how they are loaded.
Ah, that is indeed an oversight on my part. Will try to fix it, thanks for the feedback!
Fixed it – we’ll test it tomorrow and then put the new version up for download.
Thanks again for the heads up!
It’s a minor cosmetic issue but the music note icon is not displayed in the plugins manager window. The cause is in the file SongbookBB.plugin, which contains the line:
Chiran-BB/songbookicon.jpg
It should be:
ChiranBB/songbookicon.jpg
Ah, thank you kindly for the hint!
I decided to drop the hyphen and naturally forgot to change it in at last one place …
Nimelia, thank you :)
Andune Ensemble used this in anger yesterday and, after getting used to the colour scheme (I am partially colour blind), it was a great help to us. There are still one or two things I could see being improved regarding filters, but the main functionality is great.
I’ll have to pass on a good share of the thanks to Lina and my fellow Badgers for their help.
Good to hear that it was of use, but rather embarassing that it never crossed my mind a songbook user might be (partially) colourblind. Now, there are plans for a complete rewrite (this was my first attempt at lua-programming, so it’s a bit messy), which would use icons to support the colours. In the meantime, I will see if I can fit some additional indicators in, or maybe make the colours configurable – if that would help?
Oh, and any ideas for improving the filters would be welcome, of course!
We now have (optional) separate one-character columns to indicate the ready states in addition to the colours. It did require some reshuffling of the code, so we will need to test this a bit, but it should be available in a few days.
Used this new version for the concert Sunday night for the first time. Great job! I love the features you added to Songbook. Thank you!
Glad to hear so! I’ll let Nimelia know yer like her work! There is an updated version coming soon, we’ll just do some testing before it is released.
Any bugs yer see or feature requests yer have, just add them here!

My heartfelt thanks to Mistress Stoutfoot for remembering those of us who use instruments tuned using the less popular Apple system! I look forward to trying the fruit of your labours when it is done. After which, I may owe you a pint or two…
Grand! Right now, I think it is a matter of finding a Mac to compile new versions of the tools.
