There’s this new little hobbit lad around in Bramblebury, mostly content with snoozing in his parents’ hammock. Here’s a little lullaby for him!
Sunday was the baby-warming party for Lyshko, son of Akelay and Adrean! Born on a Green Dragon Friday two weeks back, many curious locals had shown up ter see the lad and to bring presents to the parents. Some were worried they would be signed up fer baby-sitting duties, but the night passed by without such incidents. Instead, it was a grand party with songs, fireworks, gifts and lovely food!
Us musicians in The Brandy Badgers had prepared a lullaby as a gift to the parents, one they could sing to the little lad. It is best sung to the tune of If Children Had Wings by Gordon Lightfoot, which is a grand and lovely song indeed. Enjoy!
If Children Had Wings – Gordon LightfootLyshko’s Lullaby
What a day it has been
With our close friends and kin
When they all came ter welcome yer here
And the times have been good
Filled with laughter and food
And this song whispered soft in yer ear
Go to sleep little one, dream of things that are fun
We will both keep yer safe now that daylight is gone
In the morning we rise, to the blue cloudless skies
So good night, dearest son, close yer eyes
If yer hungry tonight
Everything will be right
Grandpa Ryngo will bring yer a pie
Should yer want more than one
Off to Simbo’s we’ll run
Raid his larder and pastry supply
Go to sleep little one, dream of things that are fun
We will both keep yer safe now that daylight is gone
In the morning we rise, to the blue cloudless skies
So good night, dearest son, close yer eyes
Go to sleep little one, dream of things that are fun
We will both keep yer safe now that daylight is gone
In the morning we rise, to the blue cloudless skies
So good night, dearest son, close yer eyes

This is a wonderful song, Lina :) The boy will surely love this song throughout his entire life.
…oh and Lightfoot certainly sounds hobbity! I hope he has a lot more songs for “his people” that you can turn into merry tunes for us *giggles*
Thank yer! Gordon Lightfoot has long been a favourite around here (and with yer, just ask Keli). Here are a few other lyrics based on his work:
