Update 6 went live last night, which meant a lot of bugs for me warden. Which lead me ter think of all the other bugs, quirks and sillyness in LOTRO. Things that have been here for quite a while. Things that don't seem to be on the priority list for fixing anytime soon. Things that may not be game-breaking stuff, but still very much irksome and immersion-breaking for a roleplayer. So I decided to add a few posts about these quirks in the coming weeks.
Part 1 – The lustful lute player
So here I am, roleplaying a bard in LOTRO. I often pull out me trusty lute on me travels, find me a quiet spot and play a few tunes. Which has always been a grand way ter spend some time and meet new players in the game.
A couple of months back, Turbine updated the game. For some reason, they managed to mess up the facial expression of female hobbit lute players. While they earlier looked like their regular selves while playing the lute, now they come across as the hobbit version of Pepe Le Pew. Raised eyebrows, winks and a sort of shamelessly inviting smile. Que lots of snickers and giggles from the audience, que lots of muttering and grumbling from them hobbit bards.
Here, have a look at it. Now imagine them eyebrows flicking up and down to the rhythm of the tune. It sort of defeats any attempts at playing sad, haunting Greenfields tunes *tuts*
