Greenfields. A beautiful plain of long grass, wild flowers and many badgers. Site of a major battle between hobbits and goblins 270 years ago. Come with us to relive the legends of Bullroarer Took and our brave ancestors!
Date: Sunday March 4
Time: 7:30PM GMT/UK, 2:30 PM servertime
Place: Bullroarer statue, Brockenborings, the Shire, Laurelin Server
Whatever happened during the battle of Greenfields? Where did the goblins come from, and how did they end up in the Shire? Just who was this Bullroarer Took everyone keeps talking about up north?
Answers to these questions, and possibly more, may be given during our sixth historical field trip in hobbit lands. There are no guarantees, though!
Meet up below the Bullroarer statue outside of Brockenborings, on the south end of the Greenfields. After a stroll to the site of the battle, our historians will present stories, tales, poetry and/or songs related to hobbit lore. Food WILL be served (Budgeford sausages)! Afterwards, we may end up at the Plough and Stars for a pint of the local porter.
Want to know more about hobbit history? Then come along!
This is the sixth in our series of hobbit field trips, and a return to the location of our first ever field trip 2.5 years ago! As usual, the event aims to combine a few lectures/stories of hobbit lore with songs, poetry and entertainment.
Previous events have been to:
- The Three-Farthing Stone
- Girdley Island/Brandywine river
- Adso’s camp/Bree
Given the subject matter, this is very much a hobbit-preferred event. Should the odd lore-seeking dwarf or longshank interested in hobbit lore choose to show up, they won’t be chased away, but wouldn’t you rather just roll a hobbit alt for the evening? If these pleas still go unheard, be prepared for puzzled looks and the odd comment about your beard and/or height during the night.
People are encouraged to listen raptly to the given lectures, and to save most of the questions to the breaks. It goes without saying that this is a IC event, but remember that our historians have been known to go for a tall, exciting tale more than strict lore accuracy.
The field trip should last about 2 hours or so.
Welcome along! Have fun!
