Rose of Far Bree (Archet Aid)

Last night, a grand concert was held over in the burned-out town of Archet. Musicians and audience alike came ter show their solidarity with the locals.

The moon shining soft on the fields by the Chetwood
A dusty old road winding north through the trees
A light in the distance reminds yer of childhood

The old trading square, now filled with debris
A lump in your throat as you walk by the Badger
All burned to the ground, there is nothing to see
If you close your eyes, you can just barely feel them

But now they are gone, they will never return to

The hard times have come and you cannot escape them
The grief and the hurt never ceases to be
But what you can do is to rise to the moment
As you once again make a rose in far Bree
Once again you will come and be met by a greeting
Once again you’ll have friends, both happy and free
This will be yer home and yer never will leave it

Details:
Best sung to the tune of “Rose of Tralee”. The jury is still out on whether it is fair ter say that a small hamlet can be described as a rose, that’s an honour usually bestowed on fair young lasses. I think it works somehow, though.
