“Home Sweet Home” is a popular song at Green Dragon Fridays, where it is usually sung at the end of the night. It is also the traditional closing number of the Songburrow Strollers during their concerts. The audience often sings along to the chorus.
Yer can read more about the original song on Wikipedia, while a midi can be found at contemplator.com.
While I usually try to write me in-game lyrics without using lines from the tunes that inspire them, I kept quite a few from the original here. That original chorus is just brilliant fer hobbits, really! So big thanks ter John Howard Payne fer writing those lines!
Lyrics
Whenever we go out of bounds, wherever we may roam
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home
A charm from the sky seems to hallow us there
Which, seek through the world, is not met with elsewhere
Home, home, sweet home, sweet home
There’s no place like home, oh there’s no place like home
A log on the fire, a pie and an ale
Smoke drifts from my pipe as the dog wags its tail
The dwarves have their halls and the men they all roam
But no other place is as fair as our home
Home, home, sweet home, sweet home
There’s no place like home, oh there’s no place like home
My home is the Shire, my friends they are all here
It’s lush golden fields are to me ever dear
I never will leave it, I never will roam
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home
Home, home, sweet home, sweet home
There’s no place like home, oh there’s no place like home
Home, home, sweet home, sweet home
There’s no place like home, oh there’s no place like home
Hooray! No place like it! And welcome to the burrow!
